15 Days Birding and Wildlife Adventure Tour in Kenya, you will encounter several bird species from the prominent conservation area in Kenya, not to Miss Samburu national reserve home to about 390 species of birds supported by a gallery of the forest, open arid savanna, and shrubs. Samburu boasts a sizeable population of rare birds from northeast Africa such as Golden-breasted starling, Somalia bee-eater, and vulturine guineafowl among others. Encounter the rich montane avifauna of Mount Kenya, this area presents 6 destination endemic birds and a home to over 54 of the African tropical montane biome species, there is also a good number of regionally and globally threatened species, some of the species include the Abbott’s Starling, Lesser Kestrel, Olive Ibis, Abyssinian Owl, Scarlet-tufted Sunbird, Lammergeier, Ayres’s hawk-eagle, Jackson’s widowbird, Sharpe’s Longclaw, African Crowned Eagle, Cape Eagle-Owl, Purple-throated Cuckoo-shrike, African Grass Owl, Long-tailed Widowbird, and Kenrick’s Starling and many more. There is also a variety of game species like Sykes monkey, Black-and-white Colobus Monkey, Bushbuck, Olive Baboon, Waterbuck, Black Rhino, Cape buffalo, African Elephant, Leopard, Genet Cat, Bush Pig, Giant Forest Hog, Spotted Hyena and many more. Visit Lake Bogoria known for about 350 birds on its list, with an estimated two million lesser flamingos which is the main attraction alongside greater flamingos as well. Kakamega tropical forest is located in western Kenya closer to the Ugandan border; the forest is home to Ross’s Turaco, Turner’s Eremomela, Blue-headed Bee-eater, Grey Parrot, Great Blue Turaco Black-faced Rufous Warbler, Red-headed Bluebill, Uganda Woodland Warbler, Chapin’s Flycatcher, Yellow-mantled Widowbird, White-chinned Prinia, Yellow-bellied Hyliota, Vieillot’s Black Weaver, Turner’s Eremomela, Green Hylia, Snowy-headed Robin-Chat, Hairy-breasted Barbet, Olive-Green Camaroptera, African Broadbill, Black-billed Turaco and Yellow-bellied Wattle-eye, Green-throated Sunbird, Dusky Tit, Luhder’s Bush-Shrike, Mackinnon’s Fiscal, White-spotted Flufftail, Black-crowned Waxbill, Yellow-crested Woodpecker, White-breasted Negrofinch, Equatorial Akalat, Blue-headed Bee-eater, Common Wattle-eye, White-tailed Ant-Thrush, Jameson’s Wattle-eye. Day1
We would suggest flights arriving on British Airways into Nairobi – Jomo Kenyatta Airport, Depending on time/method of arrival,we will transfer to the Hotel Nairobi, rest of the day relaxing and recovering from Jet lag.
Day2
After breakfast, we will depart for the highlands. Passing through Nairobi, we will reach Thika, overlooking the Chania & Thika Falls and birding. We will then continue to Thiba Paddyfields for waterbirds, and finally to Wajee Camp, where the endemic Hindes Babbler is resident.
Day3
Day4
Pond and then Drive to Samburu National Reserve.
Day5
We will spend the entire day Birding and Game viewing in the Park.
Day6
After breakfast, we will drive out of the reserve, and up into the highlands again. In the afternoon,we will drive Birding on Mt Kenya.
Day7
Transfer across the Solio Plains, and skirt the Aberdares to Thompson’s Falls, and the nearby marsh. We will then descend into the Rift Valley, and up to Lake Baringo, where we can spend the evening in the camp grounds.
Day8
All day will be spent in the vicinity of Lake Baringo, exploring the cliffs and lakeshore areas.
Day9
After breakfast, we will drive through the spectacular Kerio Valley and then head south to Kakamega forest,where we will spend the afternoon in the northern part of the forest reserve.
Day10
We will spend the first half of the Day in the southern part of the reserve,after which we will drive Kisumu.
Day11
After breakfast, we will transfer to the Masai Mara Park.
Day12
We will leave the Mara,game viewing and heading across Loita Plains and to Lake Naivasha country Club.
Day13
The first half of the morning will be spent around the shores of Lake Naivasha and in the afternoon we will drive back in Nairobi passing by the Limuru Pond before arriving in Nairobi.
Day13
Today we will head for a long drive heading to the coast overnight at Scorpion Villas.
Day15
We will explore the Arabuko-Sokoke Forest, with its many rarities. We will also look over Mida Creek for waterbirds and drive to Mombasa staying at the WhiteSands in Mombasa.
Note: At the end of the Tour one may take an option to spend a couple of Days by the Beach and arrange to Fly Mombasa to Nairobi connecting with the Outbound Flight Home.
